SolarWinds User Experience Presentation (UXPA)
SolarWinds User Experience Team presented tips to help build relationships with users.
Anna Rowe and Kellie Mecham from the SolarWinds User Experience Team presented tips to help build relationships with users in the talk title ” Use once and throw away? How to stop treating your users like toilet paper “. The topics included creation of special feedback forums that empowered users to make a impact on alpha product versions prior to distro, giving them a sense of investment in the process.
The talk focused on making the most out of the learnable moments that are present when we reach out to users. The UX team at SolarWinds described different avenues of interactions with its users such as ” see how you use it sessions” and feedback moments to just watching users use the product suites. They espoused incentivization and giving to get mentality instead o a single direction information stream.
The main case study was concerning the recruitment of vocal users from their in house community forum boards and giving them early access to a new suite of features and in return asking for their feedback, edge cases and perceptions of the alpha series software. As evangelist customers these users were positioned to give insight into blind spots the UX & dev teams had not seen.
Anna Rowe and Kellie Mecham distributed notes “Use Once and Throw Away? How to Stop Treating Your Users Like Toilet Paper.”.
